The Universal Workers’ Compensation Model

Some fifteen years ago, we found ourselves in a conference room armed with a white board, very different career experiences, and a dream about rational, comprehensive employee benefits. Before long we had sketched out a novel indemnity scheme that provides employees efficient, effective, cost-effective, and highly ethical coverage for major congruent risks to their health and well-being. The result is the Universal Workers’ Compensation Model (UWCM), a plan for social insurance for the twenty-first century that blends insurance coverage for health, disability, workers’ compensation, accident, and life into a consolidated employee-benefits design.
